...you
could copy a summary from one group footer to another
Have
you been in a situation where you have a report with a summary in the group footer?
Sure, you say. But, now you have to create an additional group with the same summary.
Just create the new group, then simply copy the summary field from the first group and
paste it into the new group footer.
...how to size bitmaps
without "stretching" them out of proportion
You can actually format a bitmap image
using the Format Editor. Right click on the bitmap, select Format Graphic, click the Picture tab.
On the Picture tab type in the same percentages for width and height. Click OK.
The image will have a perfect "aspect ratio" (the relationship between height and
width).
...about
choosing items in drop-down lists by typing
For example,
if you want to put a border on all four sides of an object, right-click the object, click Border and Colors
in the Format Editor, type the letter 'S'. This chooses a single border for the first side.
Tab twice to go to the next border and type another 'S'. Two more tabs, an 'S', two more, then the
final 'S'. You can choose other drop-down list options by typing the first letter of the
desired option. A word to the wise - proceed with caution if you want Dashed, Dotted or Double!
...I could
update a Crystal Enterprise report without losing instances
One major issue with Crystal Enterprise
is the lack of a clean report update feature. Deleting a report and importing a new version works fine, except
that all of that report's instances are wiped out in the process. If that is unacceptable, here's the way
to update a report WITHOUT losing its instances.
First, go to the report's Properties tab in the Crystal Management Console. Note the report's full path
and filename. Replace frs:// with the actual path of the Input File Repository on your system (the
default location is C:\Program Files\Crystal Decisions\Enterprise\FileStore). Overwrite this file with
the new version of your report. Finally, back on the Properties tab, click on the Refresh button.
Caution: This is an essential step if your report has major changes, such as new parameters.
Tips and tricks come to The Repository from

CDUGNA 2003 - Wednesday May 21st to Friday May 23rd
Crystal Decisions User Group of North America 2003 Conference
begins 8 a.m. May 21st through May 23rd 3 p.m. Held at The Westin
Bayshore Resort & Marina, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, this conference promises much and totally delivers to
all who attend. Last year's breakout sessions were attended by close to 400 users. 'Cafe CDUGNA' (CDUGNA's internet cafe) was a major
draw during breaks. Participants surfed the web, checked email and caught up with the outside world. CDUGNA Conferences present
valuable opportunities to meet, talk to and work with North American Crystal users and vendors. The
conference features speakers, breakout sessions and social events. It's all about Crystal users, meeting people,
catching up with friends and associates and showing everyone
there how to get the most from Crystal tools. Please attend, you'll be very happy that you did. See you in May
in Vancouver at CDUGNA 2003!
