I Didn't Know...

...how to control page numbering when a cross-tab is the only object on the report
Have you ever used the Cross Tab Expert or manually placed a cross-tab in the report header, only to have the page number print on the last page only when you ran the report? This typically happens when the cross-tab is the only object on your report and the cross-tab takes several pages to print.

Solving this problem is simple--move the cross-tab from the report header to the report footer. Now, if you place a Page Number of Page N of M special field in the page footer, it will print on every page, not just the last.

This tip courtesy of Nick Reyes of the Orange County, California Health Care Agency.

... about hiding the border around a subreport
Want to hide the subreport border? Here's how. Select either the main report Design or Preview tab. Do not select the subreport Design or Preview tab. Click the subreport. The lower left status bar will show that a subreport has been selected. Right-click. Choose Border and Colors from the pop-up menu. The Format Editor will appear with the Border tab chosen. (Version 9 users should choose Format Subreport from the pop-up menu, then click the Border tab). Choose None as the line style for the left, right, top and bottom borders. Click OK to close the Format Editor. No more border around that subreport!

... you can move a chart legend
Display the chart in the Chart Analyzer. Do this by right-clicking on the chart and choosing Chart Analyzer from the pop-up menu, or by selecting the chart and choosing Analyzer|Chart Analyzer from the pull-down menus (there is no Analyzer in Crystal Reports 9). Click on the border of the chart legend. This highlights the entire legend. Now just drag the legend to the desired location.

Tips and tricks came to The Repository from "Crystal Reports Professional Results" and you, our readers. Want to see YOUR name here? Submit your favorite Crystal tip, trick or technique. When it's selected you'll see it and your name in the next release of The Repository.
