section - as well as news about The Ablaze Group and Crystal
Reports, Seagate Info and Crystal Enterprise. Check out our Promotions

feedback.
...you could copy a formula or parameter
from one Crystal Report to
another
Just place the formula or
parameter object on the existing Crystal Report and copy the object using
Ctrl-C. Go to the second
Crystal Report and press Ctrl-V to paste the entire object into the new
report. This is very helpful
for parameter
fields that have many default values.
...how to
quickly document a Crystal Report Try exporting the report to a Report Definition
format. Using File | Print | Export (version 8.5 or earlier) or File |
Export (version 9), choose Report Definition as the format and Disk as the
destination. The result: a text file documenting different report
sections, formatting formulas and so on.
...the way to relocate the
Crystal Reports toolbars Just "un-dock"
them! Hold down your mouse button somewhere in the toolbar where there
isn't a button--either between buttons, or on the small vertical bar on the left of the toolbars (the
vertical bar is in version 9 only). Now drag! The toolbar will undock from
its current position. If you drop the toolbar away from any edge of the
Crystal Reports main window, the toolbar will turn into a "floating"
window. If you drag it near any other border of the main Crystal Reports
window it will dock on that side of the window.
...you can create neater
looking Crystal Reports column
headers
When you place a field in
the Details section Crystal Reports automatically puts a column header in
the Page Header section. That column header is a text field with
underlined text. To make that column header look better, perform these
steps:
- Select Format Text, go to the Font tab,
and remove the check next to Underline.
- Go to the Border tab and select Single
next to the Bottom, and use OK to close the dialog box.
- Be sure the column header field is the
same width as the data field below it.
Now you'll have a column header that defines the
width of the column with
an underline that goes the full width of the field.
Tips and
tricks this issue are contributed to The
